Brian’s Column: Randy and Dianne for Producers of Liberty

A retrospective on two fine behind the sceners in the Libertarian Party of Michigan
By Brian R. Wright

Greg, yes, I’ve known Randy for a long time, going back to my early days as leader of the Ayn Rand fans on the campus of Wayne State University, that would be 1969/1970, then Randy and two others and I rented a house in Detroit in the Greenfield/Grand River area for about a year in the early 70s.

I ran meetings of the Wayne State Students of Objectivism while I pursued and got my mechanical engineering degree. Randy was an electronics technician for the Engineering School at Wayne. I remember in those days he’d occasionally give me a ride in his late-60s Chevy Impala SS from our house down to Wayne along Grand River, he was a good driver but his foot was nearly always on the floor—accelerator and brake, both. I had given up the ghost a few years before, so didn’t say any prayers, but do remember a few “Thank Gods” in my thoughts as I exited the vehicle onto terra firma.

Didn’t know Dianne as well in those days. But understood she came from sort of a liberal Unitarian-Universalist milieu, and really wasn’t that turned on by any of the Ayn Rand characters or literature. I think they were married slightly before I was in 1975. They both became reasonably active in the LPM, whether they were at  the founding convention in Taylor I can’t say, but they’d have supported the idea of a third political party on the landscape devoted to the nonaggression principle.

As the years unfolded, Randy and Dianne were definitely in the social circle of my wife, Rose, and me. I mean to the extent that they’d join us every once in a while—along with Rose’s sister Therese and boyfriend—on Friday nights to watch the Mary Tyler Moore Show, the Bob Newhart Show, and the Rockford Files. Actually, my memory isn’t that good as to whether these shows were all on Friday or Saturday or even on the same night. And we’d go to movies together, sometimes, too.

Further they were petitioners and good workers, in general. I remember particularly on our 1982 volunteer ballot access petition drive at the local Meijer in Royal Oak. They helped a lot, and we’d all come back to our house in Birmingham (Lite), where Rose and Dianne would prepare this hot cinnamon cider toddy with cloves in it. Wow! Many a cold day’s petition drive was cut short a few minutes on the basis we needed a warm drink.

Brian’s Column: Musings on the Week That Was

On Orlando, mind control, effective political action

Cover_Leaving_Sandbox_FrontOf course, everyone is saturated with the standard ZNN[1] coverage of the Orlando, Florida, incident. I say incident, because at this stage it’s difficult to say truly what happened at the Pulse nightclub where a lot of official-looking vehicles—though few, if any, ambulances—and public officials position themselves interminably, sucking up overtime pay. And newscasts stating “world-record massacre,” “Islam radical responsible,” “50 dead and 53 wounded,” “gun violence,” and so on. But nobody answers observations that any person with the IQ of a soup can might pose:

  • Too many bullets alleged to have been fired in the time allotted
  • Reports of multiple gunmen which we have seen in other false flags attacks
  • Absence of ambulances taking away dead and injured
  • Absence of any evidence of bloody carnage
  • Purported injured persons being carried toward the nightclub, in one scene the man being put down while those carrying him simply walk away
  • Victims simply standing around to be shot, rather than fleeing the club
  • A smiling policeman taking a position in the back row of a somber official briefing
  • No video footage from security cameras
  • No apparent interference from security personnel with the alleged gunman
  • The alleged gunman’s ties to and contacts with individuals and organizations involved in previous acts of state sponsored terror
  • G. Edward Griffin reports that a new would-be shooter, James Wesley Howell, emerges blowing the whistle on a larger government gay-club-shooting black op

Like Sandy Hook and Boston, anyone who thinks for himself knows that he’s being lied to by all the public officials on the scene, behind the scene, and by the media who are willing accomplices in the act of subterfuge for political purposes. Continue reading

Brian’s Column: The 2016 LP National Convention

Libertarians nominate presidential ticket Gary Johnson/William Weld,
now actually standing a chance of winning the 2016 election… IF…

SM_Johnson-Weld… they continue to avoid shooting themselves in the foot (as was ever their wont) and rise to the challenge of The Truman Prophecy… by committing themselves to the Snowden-Manning political program. [In a phrase, the Libertarians “have to bring real truth and real justice to real people.”]

Note: From Shane Trejo’s column here, I realize that Weld, with some disturbing specifics to his background, could be a colossal mistake. But I don’t think so. As I try to point out in this column, what matters isn’t who our candidates are but the political program they will effect. And WE, the truth-justice-liberty warriors, will be—or certainly can be—the driver of what they do. They represent us; we have to insist they embrace the Snowden-Manning program, or else! ALL parties and ALL candidates.

It was a cliffhanger from what my Rose—watching CSPAN—was telling me with regular updates this afternoon. Gary Johnson won the presidential nod this morning on a second ballot, handily. But his preferred vice-presidential candidate, William Weld—another former two-term Republican governor in a largely Democratic state (Massachusetts 1991-1997)—had to duke it out with a handful of presumably fine individuals yet having the political notability of the dogcatcher in Enid, Oklahoma. Brian’s Column: Whither the Libertarian Party/LPM?

Some thoughts from The Truman Prophecy

vulturePerformance-driving enthusiast, automotive engineer, and 30-something go-getter Ypsi Sam, a few years ago when he lived in Flint, had spent an unconscionable amount of time (and several hundred dollars of his own money) trying to bring some semblance of, well, normal middle-class, dual-gender, all-age, outreach-oriented appeal to the Genesee County LP affiliate. Only to be met with harsh rejection by the forces of what seemed a bizarre sect of Goth-Voluntaryist-Anarchist-Nihilist national boys’ clubs.

The Genesee Boys’ Club, despite its members’ eternal harangues for Purity of Anarchist Essence—no compromise with any institution or instrument of ‘Existing Coercive Government’ at any level or for any reason—sought to take over the state LP, which of course is a political party whose objective is to run candidates for office in ‘Existing Coercive Government.’ And none of these boy wonders saw the contradiction. Brian’s Column: Truth and Justice Caucus

Proposing a Truth and Justice Caucus for the Libertarian Party
[… and perhaps apply it to the other political parties]

2d_revolutionIn the interests of growing party participation toward the ultimate goal of a free society worldwide, I’m forming the ‘Good Neighbor Truth and Justice (GNT&J) Caucus’ to persuade LP and Libertarian Party of Michigan supporters to take a new political strategy along the lines advocated in my books, Leaving the Sandbox (http://www.amazon.com/Leaving-Sandbox-Grownup-Strategy-Libertarians/dp/150031501X/?tag=thecofcoa-20) and After 9/11 Truth (http://www.amazon.com/After-11-Truth-Death-Humanity/dp/1507662416/?tag=thecofcoa-20) (and other sources). Specifically, the caucus will: Continue reading

Brian’s Column: Good Neighbor Libertarian Quickstart Guide

Intended to orient and get affiliates and individuals going quickly

Note:

sunshine manThis column is based on a two-sided, one-sheet description of the same name, which I’ve uploaded to a pdf file here. The idea behind it is to provide advance information on the Good Neighbor Libertarian (GNL,  pronounced genial) political activation system I’m writing a book about. This GNL system is essentially a methodology for generating rapid growth in effective libertarian solutions to the main categories of the massive central corporate-state assault upon real human individuals in the incipient American police state. I also expect to dramatically raise ‘body count’ of caring, effective people monitoring public-official councils and holding them accountable for securing liberty. Continue reading

Brian’s Column: Context for Leaving the Sandbox

A passionate appeal to fellow Libertarians

Cover_Leaving_Sandbox_FrontThis is from the front matter to my book on Libertarian grand strategy Leaving the Sandbox, scheduled for completion June 21, 2014.

Roughly 2005 while I was embarked on the Free State journey in New Hampshire[1] an agorist disciple/leader and international philosophical man of intrigue, Jack Shimek, commented to me, “The Libertarian Party has set the cause of liberty back decades.” Actually, I think he said generations.

Naturally, being a longtime, if occasionally backslid, Libertarian, I resisted his assertion. Continue reading
