Crunch Time for Pelosi Care
"Hey, everyone, we gotta write and stop this today"
by Jim Babka
From Downsize DC, message on
the proposed Killer Health Care Bill that the Democrats are trying to perpetrate on the American public.
A key vote is coming up Thursday, November 5. Please pick your source and contact a federal legislator near you. That way if they do pass the law, we can ignore it with more conviction.
Here's what I wrote in my personal comments (my Senators will receive a copy, too, so they can know how I feel about this):
*** START OF SAMPLE LETTER ***
I object to the 1,900-page House healthcare bill precisely because it's 1,900 pages long. That's too much complexity.
I object because the word "regulation" appears in this bill 181 times, "tax" is there 214 times, and "fees" is used 103 times. I hate these words and I won't feel too good about you either if you inflict them on me.
I object because you're not going to read this bill before you vote on it, or sit with the federal code to look up and read all the parts of existing law that the bill will change.
I object because the bill will require federal bureaucrats to write hundreds, or even thousands of pages of regulations to fill in the details, and because I'll have to pay for lawyers and accountants, either directly or indirectly, to interpret and comply with this mess.
I object because many of my healthcare choices will be dictated by a "Health Choices Commissioner" and an "Inspector General for the Health Choices Administration." I won't be able to elect or fire either of these people, and I do not want them in my life.
I object because this bill costs too much, and because you're hiding the true cost in a variety of fraudulent ways.
I object because this bill contains numerous Trojan Horses that will eventually kill free market healthcare in favor of complete government control.
I object because it is increasingly clear to me that my supposed representatives really represent their own party leadership first, special interest lobbyists second, and me not at all.
Please stop to consider that this bill will be imposed on me at the point of a policeman's gun. If I do not want to pay for it, or comply with it, armed men will eventually knock on my door to force me to submit. Do not do this too me!
If you pass this bill, or anything like it, I will never forgive you.
Please take additional steps to spread the word, recruit more DC Downsizers, and increase the heat on Congress. Ask other people to send a letter to Congress -- forward them this message (be sure to clip off the Dispatch footer when you do):
As millions of Americans head to the polls today, it's worthwhile to reflect on what our representatives in Washington are planning for the future of our health care - a complete government takeover over your choice and quality of care. Despite Americans' vocal opposition to such plans and polls indicating a majority of the public opposes the President's proposed reforms, Congress is marching full speed ahead.
The latest House bill is a shining illustration of their goal to have Washington take over our health care. As Americans have a chance to read the bill, the gory details become ever scarier - nearly $600 billion in new taxes, $34 billion in unfunded mandates dumped on states and an underhanded proposal that creates three avenues in which a robust government-run insurance plan could be enacted. The level of bureaucracy is staggering! One particularly outrageous provision mandates that vending machines display nutrition labels for all products before purchases! Altogether, the bill creates 111 new bureaucracies and comes with a price tag of over $1.2 trillion.
With unemployment at nearly 10%, Americans cannot afford this bill and overwhelmingly reject the notion that government should be in charge of their health care decisions. Unfortunately, the public's request to slow things down to make sure reform is done right, not fast is being completely ignored.
Clearly, as more people read this bill and understand the harsh consequences on their health care choices, criticism grows and internal pressure to pass this bill quickly increases. Accordingly, Speaker Pelosi has planned a vote later this week to ram this through the House before more of the bill is dissected. So we need your help this Thursday, November 5 on our House Call Day to let your Congressman know that placing a bureaucrat between you and your doctor is not an option. Join millions of your fellow Americans in telling Congress to keep their Hands Off Your Health Care!
So on this election day when millions of Americans are able to give power to their voice, remember that politicians in Washington are doing their best to take away your control over what doctor and insurance options you will have. It's more important than ever that your Senator and Congressman hear from you.
