Vaccination Nation
Maintaining vigilance over statists with a syringe
I'm giving some space today to the good people over at New Hampshire Coalition for Vaccination Choice led by Melanie Streeter and Eileen Landies. I've personally had the pleasure of talking with Eileen at the (Free State Project) Liberty Forums and Porcfests of the past several years; no doubt Melanie has been to several such events, as well. For most of us the issue of mandatory vaccinations doesn't often come to center stage, but it certainly needs to in these days of attempted government takeover of, well, everything. State governments, too, are getting into the act of forced injection of often dangerous chemicals. Vac Choice NH is in the vanguard of saving New Hampshirites from Big Nurse.
Update December 2010
We have exciting news! Melanie and I have been busy preparing for the upcoming 2011 Legislative Session. Although we are still awaiting official numbers and wording from Legislative Services, we have TWO Vaccination Choice bills in the works.
First and foremost is a bill for a Conscientious Belief Exemption to Vaccine Mandates. The Honorable George Lambert (R)- Litchfield is the primary sponsor of the bill.
Secondly, in November the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS)
Division of Public Health Services (DPHS) announced the start of school-based flu vaccination clinics. Our second bill would prohibit school-based clinics. The Honorable Laura Jones (R)- Rochester is the primary sponsor of the bill.
We have also heard from several parents of college age students and their challenges with exercising a Religious Exemption. Dawn Richardson, the Director of Advocacy for the NVIC, is spearheading a resolution to these issues to ensure that parents and their children are not prevented from exercising their legal right to an exemption.
So, what do we need from all of you?
Please, if you have not done so, sign up on the NVIC Advocacy portal (http://nvicadvocacy.org/members/Home.aspx). It is helpful to have your zip + 4 available for registration. One of the wonderful features of registering on the NVIC Advocacy site is that contact info for ALL of YOUR representatives, from the Governor to NH State Reps, will be in the right hand column on your screen. This saves time to look up a rep if someone is unsure of where to send an e-mail/letter.
Also, please continue to spread the word about the NH Coalition for Vaccination Choice and share our website, petition and FB page with your friends.
As the lead time before a public hearing can be as little as 3-4 days, we need everyone to be prepared to send letters/e-mails/make phone calls and show up in Concord. If you would like to testify at a public hearing, please contact us at VacChoiceNH@gmail.com .
Due to legislative rules, we cannot submit another Conscientious Exemption bill until 2013, so it is crucial that we pass a Conscientious Belief Exemption bill in the 2011 Session.
Thank you again for all of your support,
Eileen Landies & Melanie Streeter

We are an alliance of parents, professionals, organizations, and individuals desiring to create a conscientious belief exemption for vaccinations in the state of New Hampshire. Although our individual positions regarding vaccination may differ, we come together for the common cause of the right to choose what form of medical intervention our children receive. This is a matter of informed consent, which is a crucial element of the foundation upon which ethical medical practice rests. This is a basic tenet of health freedom.
Currently, there are 20 states that offer their citizens a conscientious belief/philosophic type exemption, which translates to more than 50% of the US population. We pride ourselves here in NH on our many liberties, however, affording our citizens with the right to choose with regard to mandatory vaccination is not one of those liberties. Creating a conscientious belief exemption will give our citizens the right to choose whether or not to receive mandated vaccinations. Compulsory vaccination laws that do not provide for these types of exemptions are, in essence, mandating the government’s ‘right’ to ‘own’ an individual’s body.
Presently, New Hampshire has both a medical and religious exemption to compulsory vaccinations. The following are the definitions recognized by our state, and the requirements to obtain such exemptions:
- Medical Exemption:
To receive an exemption of immunization for medical reasons, the parent or legal guardian of the child must acquire written documentation from a licensed physician or authorized health care provider that certifies that immunization against a particular disease may be detrimental to the child's health. The exemption shall exist only for the length of time, in the opinion of the physician; such immunization would be detrimental to the child. An exemption from immunization for one disease shall not affect other required immunizations.
- Religious Exemption:
Religious exemptions can be granted when a parent or legal guardian objects to immunization because of religious beliefs. The parent or legal guardian shall sign a notarized form stating that the child has not been immunized because of religious beliefs.
Nowhere in either of the above exemptions is parental choice or informed consent mentioned. A conscientious belief exemption by definition would allow parents to be released from the requirement of compulsory vaccination based on their personal beliefs, concepts, attitudes, logic, ethics, metaphysics and epistemology. A legislated conscientious belief exemption would provide a rightful means for an individual to accept, decline or abstain from medical mandates. It is a guarantee that no government sanctioned paradigm or system of beliefs will retain absolute authority over an individual’s freedom of choice.
The time has come for the citizenry of New Hampshire to come together and solidify our right to make our own decisions regarding the health and welfare of our bodies and those of our children. If you are interested in helping to support and/or promote a legislated conscientious belief exemption for the state of New Hampshire, we welcome all levels of participation. This includes individuals that have only 5 minutes to send an e-mail or to make a phone call to their legislator or those able to invest hours to this cause. Your support in this effort is crucial. Please join our mailing list by sending an e-mail to: VacChoiceNH@gmail.com.
So please help the good people here at NH Vaccination Choice. The child you save—from the ravages of Big Nurse and her increasingly greedy corporate syringe fillers—may be your own. Also, as I've done, consider becoming a member of the National Vaccine Information Center Advocacy Panel, which is the national organization formed in 1982 to "advocate the institution of vaccine safety and informed consent protections in the mass vaccination system, NVIC is responsible for launching the vaccine safety and informed consent movement..."
