COLLECTIVE-BRAIN SYNDROME (AND PSYCHOSIS)
Update #6: Pertains mostly to the Independent Consciousness Movement (ICM)
A few weeks ago as I was watching Ayn Rand’s The Fountainhead for the umpty-umpth time, during Howard Roark’s courtroom speech (well worth reading, even memorizing as a FLOWer: http://bit.ly/2ZbxOP5_Roark_Courtroom_Speech) , I particularly attended to the one line he stated about collective consciousness:
“… the mind is an attribute of the individual, there is no such thing as a collective brain.”
Yet, over the past few millennia humans have attempted to do the impossible and think AS IF their minds needed to be subordinated or AT ONE with some unitary social entity of ALL: the collective—btw, highly promoted by the parasitical Men of the Power Sickness (MOPS) of their times. And in thinking about Roark’s statement of the obvious, I came up with a new concept: collective-brain syndrome (CBS) and psychosis (CBP) to denote this species-ending affliction. Here’s the column I wrote:

[Indeed, consider the rather revolutionary—and suppressed—idea from Yale professor, Julian Jaynes, in the 1970s resulting in a book with cocktail party-dropping title: The Origin of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind (1976):
http://bit.ly/2PFSpYt_Breakdown_Bicameral_Mind
Jaynes’ theory holds that it wasn’t until roughly the 2d millennium BCE that independent narrative consciousness as we know it emerged in the majority of humankind; for several millennia before that (until roughly the 20th millennium BCE) man’s consciousness was ‘bicameral,’ two-sided. Where one side received (literally hearing) voices and the other side carried out those voices—archetypically supplied by a God-King. Examples being ancient Egyptian societies and those of the Americas: Aztecs, Incas, Mayans.]
Talk about collective-brain syndrome!
It’s been three decades since I’ve read Origin, but Jaynes speculates that 1) bicameral mind (BM) did not prove efficacious against the rising challenges the physical environments and other inputs and 2) for our purposes in this update, humanity has always carried large percentages of “vestigial bicameralism,” making an effective minority of men susceptible to extreme anti-independent, collective-brain ravages—even and especially into our own time.
Touché!
So, if true—and it seems highly likely—BM total psychological collectivism DID exist and function in human remote historical times. So Roark might well have said, “There is no such thing as a collective brain… until the 2d millennium BCE.” 🙂
And after that, humans continued to pretend that they didn’t have to grow up and become Independents—with devastating consequences to individual beings. For example, today we can see the horrors of Marxism as inflicted by a distinct subset(s) of the MOPS whose own consciousnesses were majorly stuck in bicameralism (on the sadistic God-King side). [More on the most dangerous subset later.]
So let’s define collective-brain syndrome as: the psychopathology or mind-affliction that underlies all forms of political collectivism and causes individuals to interpret their own life purpose and moral virtue as an identity with a ‘deity’-chosen group… and regards that group’s ‘deified’ high authorities as absolutely truth-bearing.
[Note: the authorities in such a CBS hierarchy tend toward psychosis (CBP) and get their kicks from full-spectrum dominance, especially torture, mass murder, child molestation, and complete dehumanization of any group who stands in their way. Individuals inside or outside the collective, who doubt its validity, face ruination or worse.]
THE EVOLUTION OF INDENPENDENT-NESS
The United States is the only country ever founded on the Rights of Man, that is, the inviolate supremacy of individual rights over the collective and its majority-rule government(s). The Declaration of Independence holds that these truths, individual rights, are self-evident and apply to all men equally.
That promise of the Declaration and the Constitution (arguably) was immediately undercut by the English and its banksters, the insiders of which unleashed various crusades—Manifest Destiny and the Indian ‘wars’ and the War of Northern Aggression—appealing to collective brains of our post-colonial country. Wars became Bankers’ Wars entirely, stoked by the Rothschild dynasty’s formula: interest on the financing being manna from heaven to those who finance the governments of either side. For a rudimentary documentary on bankers wars, check out the following:

Since 1913 and the Federal Reserve, heavily propagandized America has been descending the global collective-brain staircase. Refer to my FLOW update #2: Rule from the Shadows. Various high-crime assaults are inflicted upon “we the people” individuals and would-be Independents en masse. Routinely, judges and other public officials are violating the First Principles’ rights of ordinary citizens. America is now a terminally corrupt country by virtue of succumbing to CBS and CBP.
Yet, evolution of the species REQUIRES that we tie a knot and hang on.
The need for mounting a new Independents’ Movement, which FLOW places front and center, cannot be overstated. Not only to dispel collective-brain consciousness from our world forever, but to raise our consciousnesses to the next level from which no return exists: FULL INDEPENDENT-NESS.
It’s also become obvious that other intelligent beings (OIBs) have visited Earth, please read or watch the works of Dr. Steven Greer, particularly the DVD Unacknowledged. Or tune in to the popular ThriveMovement.com site and take note(s). As Greer has ventured, “The ETs are not hostile toward us, but they ARE concerned about our hostility to them and toward one another.”
Clearly, humankind will not have evolved sufficiently to sit at the OIB table as equals until we decisively end all vestiges of CBS and CBP. There’s more, as well, on the Spiritual Cultivation movement of FLOW, which Lao Tzu puts in a nutshell:
“If you want to awaken all of humanity, then awaken all of yourself. If you want to eliminate the suffering of the world, then eliminate all that is dark and negative in yourself. Truly, the greatest gift you have to give is that of your own self-transformation.” — Lao Tzu
Eckhart Tolle provides similar quotables in TPON.
And while I’m at it, to end with a flourish, a quote from a late 19th century continental philosopher, who ironically some may say, conveys the mission of FLOW and the Fellowship [in fact, the irony is so striking that it approaches baffling contradiction considering this person’s stated core beliefs; ergo let’s call him The Continental. I’ll be glad to discuss down the road:]
“Fortunately, some are born with spiritual immune systems that sooner or later give rejection to the illusory worldview grafted upon them from birth through social conditioning. They begin sensing that something is amiss, and start looking for answers. Inner knowledge and anomalous outer experiences show them a side of reality others are oblivious to, and so begins their journey of awakening. Each step of the journey is made by following the heart instead of following the crowd and by choosing knowledge over the veils of ignorance.” — The Continental
Could Morpheus have seen in Neo [in the movie The Matrix (1999)] anything more to the point? And looks like after about four iterations I’m VERY CLOSE now to having the right FLOW emblem for our CafePress collection.
