Screenplay Review: Enemies Within (2019)

When Israel Declared War on the United States of America
By Clint Burnette, Reviewed by Brian R. Wright

This is a book I actually had a hand in bringing to publication initially via the Amazon independent-publishing print-on-demand and Kindle preparation facilities (was Createspace, now = Kindle Direct Publishing). The book posted on Amazon on this link is actually a screenplay, by Clint Burnette, documenting the all-out, war-crime attack on the United States Navy intelligence ship, the USS Liberty, by all three branches of the Israeli military on June 8, 1967, and its subsequent coverup by top corrupt Israeli and United States officials… with wholesale disrespect of the ship’s officers and crew, their families, and friends of American liberty, justice, and truth, worldwide.

The intent of publishing Enemies Within for general reading audiences is to generate wide support, readership, and enthusiasm among the general public for word of mouth referral to a special filmmaker(s) of excellence and courage wishing to step up and DO the movie that wants to set sail from its pages. [Disclaimer: It shouldn’t be necessary to state this, but Enemies Within is not anti-Jewish anymore than opponents of those corrupting the US government are anti-American. It is the STATE of Israel and its corrupt personnel and accomplices who must be held accountable for the assault on the Liberty.]

My review consists of 1) the context and description of the Liberty incident and its coverup (appearing on the back cover) followed by 2) the initial review of Enemies Within posted on Amazon by Hiram Chance.

Enemies Within: Context and Description

On June 8th, 2019, patriotic Americans will mark the 52nd anniversary of a day of infamy for our naval forces and for our country. The harsh realities of that day will never leave the crew, and can only be assuaged by service to and victory of truth and justice.

For on that day in 1967, during the Six-Day War, the Israeli military launched a deliberate, unprovoked, full-scale attack against the defenseless American Naval intelligence ship USS Liberty—with unmarked jet fighters, followed by Israeli Navy torpedo boats and Israeli Army boarding helicopters with commandos. The US ship was steaming in international waters on a cloudless day with flags unfurled and other identifying features fully visible. Continue reading

Typical Review of Enemies Within

“I’ve just read Enemies Within and am ready to read it again. It seems the more I read the more I want to know. I’ve been following the USS Liberty for approximately 24 years and never imagined I’d be reading something as chilling and riveting as this! So realistic that I was in tears, and actually felt as if I were there, terrified and slammed into a wall. I did not want this to end. I want more. I want to read more, know more and see more in FILM! A blockbuster film! Almost forgot to mention that my partner Wayne Kyle was aboard the USS America and witnessed some of the after effects of that incident.” — Rose Marie Higgins

What We Can Do to Help Turn this Screenplay into a Movie

We want to bring the screenplay to the attention of a film making team of excellence and courage in the face of hostile opposition who desperately want it squashed. So: Continue reading

Book Review: Erasing the Liberty (2016)

My battle to keep alive the memory of Israel’s attack on the USS Liberty
By Phillip F. Tourney
Reviewed by Brian R. Wright

Erasing the Liberty is the third book I’ve read since firing myself up to support these men of the Liberty and their families seeking truth and justice all these years. The other two books are Attack on the Liberty (2009) by James Scott and Assault on the Liberty (1979) from surviving injured crew member James Ennes, Jr. I’m beginning to see that each of the books has unique strengths.

I met the author, injured survivor Phillip Tourney and his coauthor-editor, Dave Gahary, at the USS Liberty 50th Anniversary Reunion, June 8-10, 2017, Norfolk, Virginia. The authors have arranged the information in compact, highly readable units, and the latest revision is readily navigable to thumb thru and find related events to those you are reading.

What Erasing the Liberty provides that the other two books do not, or not to the same degree, is a deck-level, sailor’s view from start to finish of the attacks. Tourney, as petty officer, took a leadership role in damage control and personally wound up at the center of several of the major incidents during the action. He was directly aware of: Continue reading

Brian’s Column: The (USS) Liberty Meme

Probably a major tool to hard stop the Men of the Power Sickness
By Brian R. Wright

Many of my readers know I have taken up another vital cause recently, at least to the extent of spreading the word for truth and encouraging justice for all parties: the USS Liberty incident of June 8, 1967… this being the 50-year anniversary of the blatant Israeli war crime that officials in Washington and their Israeli masters have hushed up. Let me first give you the context for further reading and viewing, then make the killer meme proposal and offer reasons why such a meme does promise to be killer:

Basically, I’ve done a lot of reading and writing, and discovery, so far, on the USS Liberty incident, and am in the process of becoming even more knowledgeable on the subject. Moreover, I have my own life’s mission and self-created universe in progress represented in my work and writings on the http://global-spring.org site. As individuals self-liberate by raising themselves as Independents—ref. my novel, The Truman Prophecy—it will be necessary to put an end to the Men of the Power Sickness (MOPS) once and for all. Book Review: Assault on the Liberty (1979)

The true story of the Israeli attack on an American intelligence ship
By James M. Ennes, Jr. (Fourth edition, Raintree, 2013)
Reviewed by Brian R. Wright

This is the second full book[1] I’ve read since coming into the fray of justice for the USS Liberty—justice (and recognition) for its victims and justice (and retribution) for its perpetrators—only recently. [I became aware in March or April of this year, 2017, that the 50th anniversary of the deliberate, unprovoked attack on the ship by the Israeli armed forces on June 8, 1967 was coming right up. I kicked myself for never adequately paying attention to the reality of this horrific war crime against American servicemen and resolved to catch up and pitch in to the cause.]

I’ve gotten to the point of having actually made a presentation to my local Oakland County, Michi-gan, Campaign for Liberty group. Video here courtesy John Irvine productions. [The online pdf of the presentation from which you may derive many useful links for further research is located here.] Further, from June 8-10, 2017, I attended the 50th anniversary event in Norfolk, Virginia, meeting several of the survivors and other supporters. I am working on a followup presentation to the C4L group, on that event, to which I shall provide links, when finished.

Assault is the first and, arguably, the most authoritative of the books on what happened that fateful day. The Liberty was an intelligence gathering ship, with a crew of 294 total, of which a major portion was devoted to secret or at least confidential intelligence work, mainly communications. Ennes was higher-level officer on the intelligence side, who had important line responsibilities for ship personnel and navigation. He was seriously injured during the initial strafing of the Liberty, and drew most of his information from extensive interviews with officers and crew, also from research with official agencies, libraries, and other public sources. Book Review: Attack on the Liberty (2009)

The untold story of the Israel’s deadly 1967 assault on a US spy ship
By James Scott, Reviewed by Brian R. Wright

From the Amazon product description:

“Notorious incident: In 1967 the spy ship USS Liberty was attacked by Israeli fighter jets and torpedo boats in international waters during the Six-Day War. Thirty-four sailors were killed and more than 170 wounded, many critically. Israel claimed mistaken identity, which a U.S. naval court of inquiry confirmed, but that explanation is contradicted by the facts of the case.

“Based on new revelations: James Scott has interviewed Liberty survivors, senior U.S. political and intelligence officials, and examined newly declassified documents in Israel and the United States to write this comprehensive, dramatic account. He reveals that officers in Israel’s chain of command were aware of the Liberty’ s identity and shows how events in Vietnam prompted the American government to deemphasize the attack despite widespread disbelief of Israel’s story.

“The son of an attack survivor: Scott’s father, John, was an officer and engineer aboard the Liberty who was awarded the Silver Star for helping to save the ship from sinking.”

Review

I very much appreciate Scott’s book, and though I haven’t yet read all of the key books about the USS Liberty (Liberty), it is certainly among the best written, Scott’s journalism credentials show—Journalist of the Year per South Carolina Press Association in 2003. His descriptive prose on the attacks themselves shines: Continue reading

Presentation to Oakland County Campaign for Liberty (C4L) on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of Survival of the USS Liberty, June 8, 1967
By Brian R. Wright

The importance of remembering and commemorating—not to mention bringing justice to the attackers and victims of—the horrific, intentional attack on the unarmed American intelligence USS Liberty in international waters during the so-called Six Day War in June of 1967… cannot be overstated. Yet I will be attempting to do so… as a civilian and an unmitigated partisan of the United States Armed Forces in their legitimate duties to protect and defend the Constitution and American First Principles “against all enemies foreign and domestic.”

This column is mainly a links page referring you to:

  • the video of my presentation to C4L [note I have a few errors of fact, e.g. of number of torpedoes fired by the Israeli gunboats (6 vs. the correct 5) and will be correcting and updating the source material from time to time],
