[I read the book in the summer between my junior and senior years in high school… when my family had moved from Oklahoma City to Overland Park, Kansas, where I was enrolled at prestigious middle class WASPish Shawnee Mission West. The experience was cathartic and transforming, at least in terms of my view of the world, and fuel for my nascent idealism.]
