Brian’s Column: Whither the Libertarian Party/LPM?

Some thoughts from The Truman Prophecy

vulturePerformance-driving enthusiast, automotive engineer, and 30-something go-getter Ypsi Sam, a few years ago when he lived in Flint, had spent an unconscionable amount of time (and several hundred dollars of his own money) trying to bring some semblance of, well, normal middle-class, dual-gender, all-age, outreach-oriented appeal to the Genesee County LP affiliate. Only to be met with harsh rejection by the forces of what seemed a bizarre sect of Goth-Voluntaryist-Anarchist-Nihilist national boys’ clubs.

The Genesee Boys’ Club, despite its members’ eternal harangues for Purity of Anarchist Essence—no compromise with any institution or instrument of ‘Existing Coercive Government’ at any level or for any reason—sought to take over the state LP, which of course is a political party whose objective is to run candidates for office in ‘Existing Coercive Government.’ And none of these boy wonders saw the contradiction. Notes on the title, key metaphors, plot, structure, and characters

Truman_Front_2_for_ColumnRight away, many will ask what’s with the title, The Truman Prophecy? Okay, what happened is one night, shortly after I’d decided to write this—my ‘liberation’ (and first) novel—I refresher-watched the movie, The Truman Show (1998).

It depicts the life of a young man, Truman Burbank, (Jim Carrey) who has been raised since birth as the unknowing star of a television show—with actors, crew, sets, ubiquitous miniature recording equipment, on a domed stage visible in deep space—broadcasting 24/7 to billions of admirers worldwide.

!!Movie Spoiler!!
To make a long story short, Truman figures out what’s going on. In the climactic scene, fan-deified director Christof (Ed Harris), who adores his creation, implores Truman to stay on the show (enjoying a comfortable life in an idyllic community). [Though things have changed, haven’t they? Now that Truman knows.] Continue reading

“Hello, this is Balph,” answered chief psychiatrist and professor of neuroscience for ‘mastering the human factor’ of Jade Helm North.

At the other end of the line, a woman’s voice said, “Dr. Bufort, I’m Analyst Smith of Ultra Homeland Security Headquarters, running the People’s subsection, Institution section of the Citizen branch of the Civilian division.”

“Geshundheit!” responded Balph.

“Excuse me?” asked Smith.

“Sorry, just kidding, what can I do for you?”

“We’ve been analyzing what appears to be a coordinated lecture and community outreach program to fight what participants see as criminal attacks by government agencies and associates. This program is given the umbrella name: Toto Worldwide foundation—Toto being the little dog in the movie The Wizard of Oz…? Continue reading

Alfonse’s days of actually running to escape police capture were behind him—as a young leading man of the new cloth, Brother Al was ‘Mr. Medical Marijuana’ before Medical Marijuana was cool… or legal.

His tech setup back then was like something out of a science fiction movie: the distribution-center he set up in his church and residence on Emmett Street doubling as a halfway house, and all product in proximity to carriers or workers was protected from detection via ‘transform tech.’

Transform technology (transform tech) was one of a series of high-tech antiaggression (AA) tools[1] made available to ordinary fellows like Alfonse Cody Jefferson by a mysterious benefactor in the early part of the new century. Basically, for finely programmable circumstances of unwanted intrusion or coercion by authorities or other aggressors, your illegal substance and all nearby traces would turn into a material analog… instantly. Sterling Heights, Michigan. What was it, wondered Trish, that turned normal, bright individuals (of means and standing in the community) into that Three Stooges’ routine—“slowly I turn, step by step, inch by inch…” then pummeling the person who says “Niagara Falls”—when anyone dared question the safety or efficacy of vaccines? Or allopathic[1] treatments and drugs? Or psychiatric drugs? Or psychiatry?

No idle question…

Because it leads to the deeper question:

Patrecia Bartlett (Patty B, Trish) was a serious student of epistemology.[2] She was particularly fascinated by how people’s mental functioning had been twisted and turned by Edward Bernays’ modern technology of mind control in conjunction—over the past 60 years—with what Professor Neil Postman referred to as TV Nation.

Those were the two primary drivers, as she saw it. Continue reading

Back when he received them, Neil responded to Chance’s heartfelt personal letter and to the After 9/11 Truth book and to the Architects and Engineers’ 9/11 Truth DVD just as Neil normally had all the years they’d known each other: he completely ignored them.

Exactly how nearly ALL Chance’s former Rocket Shop colleagues and contacts reacted: “Chance is a super nice guy, but a nut, a conspiracy junkie, not to mention a radical libertarian who discusses concepts—like the Constitution, civil freedom, ending the Fed, indicting government officials for illegal wars, torture, environmental assaults—that no one needs to deal with in these enlightened days of consensus reality and the sacred mainstream media.”

“Plus, he thinks the government’s conspiracy theory of the 9/11 attacks is a transparent lie… not to mention a physical impossibility.” Continue reading

The three of them set up the second Monday in December, once more at the Indie Coffee Shop.

Chance noted, “How fitting that the name of this place matches a shortening of the name of our life form dawning: Independent?”

“I like the abbreviation ‘the I’s,’ better,” said Sean.

“The I’s have it… 🙂 ,” chided Katie.

“Good stuff,” remarked Chance. “We’re already going straight to the core of the Big Picture I’ve been striving for, and what I wanted to discuss today…

“… namely, my novel and all my related work presents the central idea of ‘the Independent’ as a new being rising from the ashes of the Collective, declaring its presence and withdrawing it from the old life form.”

“And by doing so, ending it [the old form],” furthered Katie. “Until now our liberty colleagues been more or less beating around the bush… so many grappling with the strings and chains… rather simply than casting them under foot and walking to the light.” Continue reading
